Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar, a British American singer and musician, is well known for her songs. She is also the youngest and first woman to win an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student and is also his daughter. She was born in London in 1982, and began her life by hopping to London as well as New Delhi. In the age of thirteen, she gave her first performance in New Delhi. Then she moved into Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. While she's still young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. She regularly performs alongside her father and has done so for quite a number of years. In 1998, she debuted her debut self-titled album Anourag. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all major venues around the globe. Her career extends beyond music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biography she wrote in 2002. It is a tribute to her late father Ravi Shankar. She's also acted. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, in which she played the role of a Bharat dancer in the form of a young girl. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star and her career will keep on growing. Anoushka is a native of England and spent a lot of her growing up split between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in the high school there. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at the age of nine. A few years later she performed her sitar debut in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka's father toured around the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new experiences. As she was at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the youngest woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship within performing in the Asian Arts.
